We are a volunteer ran BASICS scheme in Hampshire, comprising of a small group of Paramedics with Extensive Pre-Hospital Care Experience & Qualifications who choose to volunteer their time in order to provide evidence based Enhanced Care including Advanced Analgesia, Sedation, Advanced Resuscitation, Major Trauma Interventions, Respiratory and Ventilation support and Advanced Cardiac & Surgical procedures.
Due to the way we seamlessly integrate into the statutory Ambulance service our patients and their relatives are usually unaware that assistance in their care was provided by a SCAS BASICS volunteer Responder funded entirely by charitable donations.
We have a team Volvo response vehicle Callsign ER101 funded by SCAS Charityand this is now supplemented by a NEW Toyota RAV4 response vehicle Callsign ER102 for which the vehicle purchase was funded through a BASICS HQ grant from HELP Appeal (See press release HERE) with the conversion at SAFE RESPONSE funded by SCAS Charity. This enables us respond quickly & safely across our Urban/Rural region.
Responders also utilise personal or authority owned fully approved and strictly regulated vehicles to respond to patients in need from home when tasked.
The scheme is fully registered & approved by the national BASICS charity, funded via SCAS Charity (Registered Charity no 1049778) and regulated through the full governance and clinical oversight of the Medical Directors of SCAS NHS Trust.
